Gaunt and hollow eyed
Walking among us.
In the shadows by day
But come nightfall, in plain sight.
Hungrily stalking; yet
Unnoticed.
On your street,
Or maybe mine?
Peering wanly through the myriad of windows.
And you, unknowing.
So cozy, so secure, settled in for the night.
With empty, souless eyes and gnarled bony hands,
Waiting to snatch your warm, fuzzy life.
Not this eve, don't worry; But
Your turn will come.
